Final Like Mother, Like Daughter: Advice
What advice do you give to this generation of reproductive activists?
Christine: Vote. Vote in every election. Know the history of reproductive rights in our country. Celebrate the good things that have come from the movement. There has been a lot of good change.
Maria: I really think we need a third party in this country. One that represents the people and not the two-party system we have now that is still pretty much imbued in the rights of the upper echelon that’s running us at this point. We need to not be based in the fear of our current system that is motivating us. And I know part of it is that there is such an extreme in the Republican party but we need to look at how our country has defined Democrats and to study how we are getting manipulated. Being local. The vote is critical. Who you elect locally. I think that is a really important place to be.

~Conducting the interview and compiling the blog posts has been an incredible learning experience for me. Throughout the process I was so moved by both my mother and my grandmother. What was once simply admiration has caused me to conceptualize my activism as a generational obligation. I am so grateful for the time, authenticity, and thoughtfulness of my mother and grandmother in this series!~
